First, we are grateful to announce that Jesse Munch has agreed to be on the board and will take over some of the road maintenance duties that Mike Couch used to do. He does not have the same amount of time to devote to the work as Mike did, but will do his best for the community!
Second, we are pleased that Darla Joyner has agreed to serve as President, replacing Diana Couch. Lisa Mueller will continue as Secretary/Treasurer.
BUT, CMR Project will be legally forced to dissolve if we do not find someone willing to fill the Vice President role. We are required to have three officers to remain in business. It represents a time commitment of about 1-2 hours every 4-6 weeks for board meetings. Beyond that, it is up to you to determine how much time you can offer.
It would be a real pity to lose the 501(c)3 status and all the work that has been done to this point. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we are in a great position to receive donations and grants from organizations beyond the community. Herzog’s has already contributed in 2023, and we hope for that to continue into the future. We are also working with BNSF and other non-resident organizations that use the road.
The road is not perfect, but it is much better than it has been in the past without regular maintenance efforts. A reasonable road saves us all money on car repair and maintenance, and can be life-saving. First responders really struggle to provide service over rutted and inaccessible roads.
